Technically speaking, when planning your visit to Grand Cayman Island, you don’t have to have a specific itinerary. The tropical environment and abundant beaches are more than enough to warrant a visit, regardless of the time of year or any special events going on. That said, if you’re looking to enhance your vacation by experiencing some of the local culture, knowing the upcoming festivals and events can help you plan accordingly. So these are the festivals you can expect on Grand Cayman for 2026.
Cayman Arts Festival – February 5th to the 14th
What’s better than experiencing local art and music during your vacation? The annual Cayman Arts Festival showcases the best talent the island has to offer, and you get to enjoy it for a full nine days. From jazz bands to flamenco dancing, this festival is sure to delight the senses.
Cayman Carnival Batabano – May 2nd and May 9th
May offers some incredible weather on Grand Cayman, and if you’re visiting on May 9th, you can participate in the island’s version of Brazilian Carnaval, Batabano. Alternatively, the Junior parade occurs on May 2nd, so you can theoretically attend both. Dancers and revelers will take to the streets to celebrate the Cayman lifestyle and heritage. If you’re curious what the name means, it refers to the tracks sea turtles make as they come ashore to create nests. Since nesting season begins in early May, the carnival celebrates it.
CayMAS – June 13th
If you miss Batabano in May, don’t worry. CayMAS is another massive Carnaval-style celebration that occurs in mid-June. The weather isn’t the only thing heating up around this time, as the festival is a non-stop adventure filled with partying, colorful costumes, and delicious Cayman foods and drinks. If you can only make one festival during the year, you should travel during CayMAS.
Pirates Week – TBD November
If you’ve ever seen Pirates of the Caribbean and wanted to participate in the action, Pirates Week is the best way to do it! The festival occurs across all three Cayman Islands, so it’s a pretty big deal. While the dates aren’t official for 2026 (at the time of this writing), it usually happens in early November. From a flotilla of pirate ships to parades and parties, this week is filled with debauchery and decadence (but still fun for the whole family).
